HOBOKEN, NJ — A CBD store will open next month on 14th Street in Hoboken, according to the store’s Instagram account.
The Green Room posted signage recently at the new site, near the northern entrance to the city.
The store already has a location near the Hoboken train terminal, a location that opened in June of 2019.
The Green Room, which has other locations in Red Bank and Montclair, held a soft opening for its downtown Jersey City location last Friday, offering a free CBD joint to visitors.
The group of stores sell edibles, creams, seltzers, pet products, and more.
Earlier this week, the Hoboken location by the train station had a visit from musicians Tyler River and Mr Nuevayol.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of 120 compounds found in the cannabis plant. While people believe it has numerous health benefits, it doesn’t have psychotropic properties to get someone “high” (unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, which also comes from the cannabis plant and is found in the marijuana).
Legal CBD in New Jersey comes from varieties of the cannabis plant with .3 percent or less THC content, or hemp.
The FDA explains, “Marijuana is different from CBD. CBD is a single compound in the cannabis plant, and marijuana is a type of cannabis plant or plant material that contains many naturally occurring compounds, including CBD and THC.”
A 2019 New Jersey law says that “hemp-derived cannabidiol may be added as an ingredient to cosmetics, personal care products, or products intended for human or animal consumption.”
More about the Hoboken stores
The Green Room website says, “We started The Green Room because of how quickly we learned about the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD). Being able to help customers find compliant, lab tested and trusted products in a brick & mortar space was impossible.”
“After we opened our Hoboken location on June 6th, 2019 we received such an incredible response from our customers that we later opened our second location in March of 2020 and our third in Red Bank, August of 2020. It’s incredible how fast the industry is progressing. Introducing newer cannabinoids just like CBG, CBN, and CBC to name a few, are allowing our customers to get even BETTER custom results!”
