A nearly century-old Chelsea business has new faces behind its operations.
Husband-and-wife Tobie Brown and Joe Schlenke took over Chelsea Farmer’s Supply at the start of January. The small business is known for selling products like wild bird seed, gardening supplies and animal feed.

A new cafe has quietly popped up on East Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor.
Christy Kaledas has been transforming the former space of The Thrivery at 2420 E. Stadium Blvd. into Blue Whale Cafe which offers a different healthy spot for people to eat at.

The sourdough bread is a hit at Raterman Bread Haus & Bistro in Dexter
Fresh sourdough bread is the foundation of a new Dexter business.
Raterman Bread Haus & Bistro opened in August and sells fresh-baked sourdough bread, sandwiches, artisanal-style pizzas, salads and soups all made with ingredients sourced from local farms.
Owner Nick Raterman began selling his freshly made bread at farmers markets in Chelsea and Ann Arbor and to other local businesses more than five years ago. He soon decided to open a brick-and-mortar shop.
